"Just because the spiritual master calls you by your name, doesn't mean she isn't dangerous." What book?

It's science fiction or fantasy. No longer a fan of the genre, but picked up a copy laying around and turned to this quote. Profound, huh? Especially, when an in-law calls you "honey", because they don't want you to breath their air, or air on the planet, or solar system, or universe.
Comments? Criticisms? Insults? Really good anaylysis?
