Slo-cook it to make it tender with mixed vegetables then add mixed herbs, mushroom ketchup, worcestershire sauce, pepper beef bovril with a little water and you could, if you like add a tin of tomatoes.
Whether you have a slo cooker or not roll the meat pieces into flour with salt and pepper. Fry and then put it in the pot - on top of the veggies.

I always dice braising steak and stick it in the slow cooker with some diced veg and about 1/2 pint of water and some gravy granules. You can also cook this in the oven, but will likely need to keep an eye on the water levels - usually about 3 hours is a good time. You can get powder sachets from the supermarket in various stew flavours if you want something tasty, they are about 60p a packet so good value. I often do braising steak in a tray in the oven, stick it in a tray with a sliced onion and cover with gravy (made with gravy granules) after about 2 hours, the steak is cooked and very succulent. Served with mash it is super scrummy! Hope you enjoy!

If you use some kidney in a stew with your braising steak it makes the best gravy. If you don't like the texture of kidney (as many people don't) cut it very finely or liquidise it, you will then get all the flavour but without the grainy texture. Also a good amount of full bodied red wine will give a great taste.
