I have 2000 tracks on my pc which I currently play through wmplayer but this always puts the CPU uasge up to 100% instantly. Is this a common problem? If so is there a simple solution? I have run various virus/spyware progs but they are coming back clean.

I will listen to advice to change to another player but I would like to solve this problem if possible.

I have a low end Dell pc about 10 months old.

I have only used 36% of the memory capacity so I that isn't the problem.

Your best bet is, as always, add memory. You might just run the System File Checker too. You may have a corrupt file in WMP. Try this:

Go to a command prompt and type:

SFC /scannow

That may fix the problem

memory leak or possible you need a cpu, I know on my old 2000 Athlon Amd cpu windows media player was using full usage, you might just wanna upgrade your CPU or try foobar2000 which dosen't use to much of the cpu and dosen't come with alot of useless stuff.

change the priority from high to low. You can do that in the windows task manager (ctrl+alt+del) under processes. Also you may just have to give your computer a few minutes to load all the songs up before trying to play them.
