My WinAmp all of a sudden doesn't play music, although my webpages and other apps do?

I also can't get the volume toggle in Winamp to come up..?

Check your soundcard, i experienced same problem and reinstall sound card driver solved it.
Try newest winamp player http://winamp.com/player/

You probably need a CODEC. This is a file that converts the binary to something playable. You can go to Google and type in FREE CODEC. You will see a lot of choices.
