only in extremely rare cases for cellular repair. however if you mean can the brain, say, make someone learn to speak again after a stroke (that kind of repair) than yes. the brain is very adept at shifting the load to undamaged portions of itself.

Not only the human brain all the organs of the body have the ability to get repaired by itself to a certain extent and also defend itself to a certain extent the former is known as regenuvation and the later is known as immunity and hence same is the case of the human brain also. Since you have posted this under the health - cancer column I would like to say that cancer to the brain is not always 100% fatal and I have heard of many cases which have been successful and are leading a normal life even after 5 years. It can repair minimally (less as we get older), but the way it compensates is that it re-routes the damaged center to an undamaged part of the brain and then starts from scratch.

of course, the only part of the human body that can't repair itself are teeth... obviously how much the brain repairs itself depends on what has happened to it in the first place...
