This isn't meant to be an advertisement, but there's a video called 'Callenetics' which includes a series of exercises that focus on that issue (among other things). The good thing about it is that you don't need props, a gym, or any equipment, and those things often are what stop people from gettting into the discipline of an exercise routine.

Other than the usual sit ups and bike riding machines which will help your problem areas. There are cheat ways by buying a toning belt or body toning system,a bit lazy but very effective. These target the exact areas you want and you can watch t.v whilst using them.Everybody if different so i can only give you my experience with them, but general results would be the same.I changed my diet by just having smaller portions,i still ate bacon ,sausages etc but not so much of it.I stopped drinking coke cola and now drink orange juice but only do a few exercises.I do about 30 sit-ups a day and use the toning belt for about 2 hours aday. The results where in 6 weeks i lost 1 stone in weight and 4 inches around the waist my stomach was alot flatter and could wear t-shirt in a medium instead of large. Hope this helps you GOOD LUCK.
