I will assume that you mean a Hybrid car. Toyota uses a system called Hybrid Synergy Drive. In this system a gasoline engine is paired with an electric motor to provide power to the drive wheels. The electric motor is draws its power from a high power battery stored in the car. The electric motor is primarily used when taking off from a stop to bring the car up to speed. the gas motor is switched on to provide more power if needed. When driving and cruising along the cars computer will use the best use of the electric and gas motors to provide the best efficiency and meet the needs of regenerating power to the battery and meet your driving needs. I hope this helps.
