His arm has a lot of pain and the doctors can't figure out why . He has seen doctors, chiropractors, and has had two carpal tunnel surgeries, but the pain still persists. What is your opinion of the problem. He has smoked nearly all his life. Does that have any bearing on the problem? He always wears a glove on his hand, even when it is warm.

Your friend could have vascular disease. That's like heart disease, but it effects your arteries in your arms/legs instead of your heart.
Clogged arteries are a pain- sounds like what your friend could be dealing with right now. Should have a DVT test done or a Vascular Study.

Read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.
Cold by itself take cayenne capsules to help the blood flow.

Could be a circulation problem...smoking doesn't help that (nicotine constricts blood vessels, i believe)...could be Raynaud's syndrome (but that should be both hands probably)...also could be a lung problem (not enough oxygen to get to the blood and the periphery..or a heart problem (not enough blood pumped to the periphery)..but all that would usually be both hands...at his age, could be a combination of things...

I see your concern for Him,To reach 80 yrs,you will have some things that don"t work like they did at 20,You stated hand is cold,not Numbness(,Pinched nerve at back of neck.)
A guess ( cold) Not enough Blood circulating thru Hand.

may just be dry bones, get him some castor oil to rub on hands
ginko would be great for him...circulation or the CQ10 vitamin.
