hi,

I was 43 and had to start over (2 years ago)

really bad divorce - she got "everything" and I got the bills. I am about 4 months from being completely dug out and debt free.

it does get better; stuff is just stuff; more important is to be happy with your self and do what you want to do, lok at it as a life experiance and KNOW yuou are going to be happier and have a better life from now on. Starting over means you get to do it right this time!

Also, everyone thinks they can "live forever" but we can't and get as much out of life as you can while you can; live for today and live a positive life (good Karma is a good thing).

you never know when you could be diagnosed with a terminal illness (like me) or have a bad accident and you have regrets for the things you never got around to doing.

Count your blessings, it could always be worse

I just took a lateral transfer with my company, starting a whole new line of work, and I'm 53. I started with this company when I was 45. It's tough having to prove yourself all over again, but at the same time, it's a challenge. Make every day a learning experience...we stop learning, we die. Good luck, you'll be fine.

Yes, I am sure there are lots of us out there. I, generally speaking, am not the norm as far as my attitude about it. I thought of it as starting a new journey, free of encumbrances.
My kids are grown, my time is my own. I find things I enjoy doing and indulge myself now.
And if by completely starting over you are talking about losing house and possessions, they are just things. And no matter how cliche it is, they can all be replaced easily enough. I choose not to harbor resentment about the past. It serves no useful purpose in my life.
Good luck

bright side of it, was I got to LEAVE rubbish, leave the x-in-laws, THERE... they watched over me, like THORN in my side...
