I kicked the church habit because I noticed everyone there came to the church when their lives went to crap, and learned that religion is a crutch for the weak and lonely.
I tended to believe that the people who believed, were weak and lonely and their opinions were biased and I chose not to trust in their views.

i do not believe in a man made contrived fairytale - that was introduced as a form of control. The abuse of power throughout the centuries in the name of 'God' - has been nothing but bloodshed, cruelty, intolerance, greed and power. If people just followed a moral code, that all the various religious books have in them, perhaps the world would be a better place, but sadly, the religious books are filled with stupid stories, which over the centuries have been changed, twisted and readapted by 'man' to introduce their beliefs, others have gone many steps further by becoming priests, fanatics, evangelists and just plain 'mad'. influencing millions with their dangerous points of view. Religion if it must exist, should be an individual choice, become a more simplistic and honest moral code, without the rules inflicted upon worshipers by tales of God, Jesus, heaven, hell, angels and demons - because until there is actual proof of the existence of these myths and legends, I for one will not follow any religion that enforces hatred and intolerance, using books which were only ever meant to be a guideline to a moral code of life.

1) Intense study of the bible. I was studying to be a deacon. The more you learn the more you see that it is totally barbaric, illogical and untrue.
2) Reading every book on Apologetics I could find. Realized that the answers were totally illogical and did not match reality.
3) Talking to different pastors and people of faith.
It is impossible for someone to see the bible, koran, torah, book of mormon, etc.... and come up with a coherent god. All the texts are self-contradictory. They are all barbaric, they are all illogical, they are all easily debunked. There is no evidence to show that Jesus even existed, there is no evidence as to who wrote the Bible, there is nothing to justify believing anything that any religion teaches.
