For most believers, I don't think you can ever absolutely KNOW that God exists. There is no physical sense that irrefutably establishes the Big Guy's (or Big Girl's) presence the way your finger feels heat from a match or your ear hears a birdsong or your eye sees a light.

The most serious Christian theologians like Thomas Aquinas recognize this and say that belief in Godmust ultimately be built on faith. They note that God--Father and Son--was manifest in the flesh in Biblical times, whether as the burning bush that Moses saw or in the body of Jesus of Nazareth; even after the crucifixion, Doubting Thomas the Apostle was able to put his fingers in Jesus's spear wounds. Since then--and until the End Days--humans won't get this sort of confirmation and will have to rely on faith.

Personally, being a philosophical materialist (not dialectical, mind you) of a scientific mindset, I can believe only in what is verifiable. The most enthusiasm I can work up for God's existence is a lukewarm agnosticism. At least I'll have the comfort of interesting company down in Hell ...

First of all, there is overwhelming evidence all around that God exists. For example, have you ever seen an autopsy? It was difficult for me not to believe after I saw the actual organs inside the body and fascinating how these could function together with completely separate functions. How could this have evolved entirely from lower life forms? How could this human machine of organs be possible without a design or creator?

Secondly, Blaise Pascal was a great mathematician. He waged others that there was a God and that if you believed, you would have the probability of an eternity of happiness. If you waged against God, then there was a probability that you would have an unpleasant afterlife. So given the two options, the Wager for God is a better decision because it is the more logical choice. There is no proof about the Bible, but if you choose for God, then one would believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. Also, I think a lot of people are in denial. All you have to do is REALLY look around at the complexity and design of life and how can a person not believe in a creator? Can you prove God does Not exist? I certainly cannot. I choose God......

The Bible tells us that God has clearly revealed Himself in nature (Romans 1:20) and in the hearts of people (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The problem is that the human race is sinful; we all reject this knowledge of God and rebel against Him (Romans 1:21-23). Apart from God's grace, God would give us over to the sinful desires of our hearts, allowing us to discover how useless and miserable life is apart from Him. This He does for those who reject Him (Romans 1:24-32).
In reality, it is not that some people have not heard about God. Rather, the problem is that they have rejected what they have heard and what is readily seen in nature. Deuteronomy 4:29 proclaims, “But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.” This verse teaches an important principle: everyone who truly seeks after God will find Him. If a person truly desires to know God, God will make Himself known.

I think that the answer would be different for everyone, and as for me, it was by a strange series of events I experienced. My father-in-law and I got along really well – he was about 70 years old, and I would go over his home and make lunches for him and my brother-in-law out of kindness. One day, I started to cry for no apparent reason. I just couldn’t figure it out. I also felt the urge to walk in one specific direction out of my house, and I live across the street from the cemetery. I had a really bad feeling in the morning the next day– I just felt apprehensive to go over my father-in-laws house, but I knew I had to go, and I didn’t know why. I packed some bananas, homemade chicken soup, and went over, despite my apprehension. I was given his house key for emergencies some time back. I knocked on the door, and when no-one answered, I let myself in, and stopped at the kitchen – I froze. His bedroom was off the kitchen, and I saw him on the floor next to his bed. I concentrated on hearing his breathing, and I phoned my sister-in-law, relaying I couldn’t move – I just felt I needed to keep listening to his breathing (This was my CNA training kicking in). She called an ambulance. He had a stroke, and was put in the intensive care unit. My brother-in-law said to me, “it’s a good thing you happened by”. My husband asked me what direction I wanted to walk when I had that awful day of crying, and I pointed the direction. He said that is the direction his mother is buried. I just knew she was communicating somehow through me. My husband always said I am so much like his mother – quirky particular ways and such. I visited my father-in-law the second day in the hospital, and I told him that I think his wife was wanting him now, that it was time and it’s o.k. He couldn’t speak because of the stroke affects, but he understood me, as he frustratingly pointed strait up and made the “o.k.” signal with his hand. Within 24 hours, he died. Sometime later, my sister talked me into going to see a psychic, and I went. One of the things she said threw me off my chair! She said, “someone, a male, wants me to let you know that he is o.k., that he is with someone who’s name begins with the letter ‘B’ (his late wife’s name was Betty).

This was enough for me to believe that God does exist, or at least there is an afterlife and something going on more than meets the eye.

when I'm driving along the highway for 2 hours letting my mind wonder and something makes me look way to the left on the other side of the road deep in a field at a sign that has some of the ten commandments. I was supposed to see that sign. Nothing crazy happened or anything, but i know one thing.........I NEVER read billboards!

I don't think he exists, but I know that evolution exists based on all the evidence (like the inner workings of the human body as seen through autopsy) that I see around me.

All you have to do is look around you and see all His beauty! God created the heavens and earth! Look in the mirror, you are a miracle.A miracle of birth, the day you were born. Just think, you came from a tiny seed planted in your Mothers womb, and a baby was formed from that seed!
