Here are some ideas:
- A picture of you or you two framed and a letter telling him how much you love him and miss him
- Candy, all guys love it!
- Silky boxers :-)
- Have a bouquet of ballons delivered to him. I did this for my boyfriend and he loved it.
- A CD mix of all of 'your' songs
- Event tickets to something in the future you can do together (like a sports game or concert)
- A funny card
- A blanket you made for him to snuggle with
I definitely would suggest a sappy letter, and definitely pictures, no matter what you do. Good luck! :-)

Get Him some ridiculous and wild piece of original art (which can be really afforabled) on a topic that he loves. You can write a warm msg for him on the back of the artwork.
Not a lot of people own original art these days and if you get him something funny or wild he'll love it and he'll hang it somewhere for everyone to see. He'll look at it and smile too and remember you always.
One good place to get this type of gifts is through the MAP movement. Check out http://market.myartplot.com
The best thing about this is that you can get free shipping and ship it direct to him.
http://market.myartplot.com is the arts and crafts store front for the MyArtPlot (MAP) movement at http://www.myartplot.com . You basically buy affordable original arts and crafts directly from the artists. I personally believe in what they're trying to do as a movement.

Hey, I'm in the same situation and here's what I put together for my boyfriend. I thought of three qualities that I LOVE about him and I am sending a gift relevant to each. For example, attentive - a gift card to a restaurant that he once mentioned - he loves their sandwiches and beer; confident - something girly and pink like cute pink boxers or a pink wife beater etc. and generous - I went to the bakery and got a large heart shaped cookie and put those three things together as a love package! Another thing you could do is get his favorite meal delivered to him right at his doorstep - just call the restaurant and ask them to deliver the meal with dessert and send a bouquet of flowers along with that. Do something that you know he would enjoy that shows your love and appreciation for him.
