Protect new tats from the sun as fading is worst when they are new. They will always fade some when hit by direct sunlight but not as much as new ones will.

I have had my tattoo for a couple of years now and havent noticed it fading even with tanning and sunbathing. Even fake tans my tattoo still looks ok. I guess it takes a lot of sunbathing to make it fade, in which case you should be more concerned about your skin in general.

yes!! I lve to have a tan! and I have a tattoo. They say that if you love to be in the sun, you should get black and grey rather than bright colors. COlors tend to fade more, but all tattoos will fade with time. Either way, you can always get it refilled in later in life if it is faded that badly.

To give you a refrence point, I have had my tattoo for 3 years, it is a purple and green flower...I tan everyday, and it still has nice color. It is lighter than it was when I got it, but still looks good.

If you want to tan for the Birthday party you should wait to get the tattoo. Any kind of sun for the first 2 weeks will fade the tattoo. My very first tattoo i went into the sun and i ended up having to have the tattoo touched up because it faded. You can try to cover it up, but i would suggest waiting!

Sunbathing and tanning beds might be really tempting, but are not a wise choice if you have tattoos.

If it's a new tattoo, not a good idea. There could be a chance you could get a sunburn and the burn will peal, causing you to lose color.
If it's an older tattoo, the sun shouldn't hurt it.
Hope this helps.

sunbathing is bad anyway but if you must put sunblock on tattoo. the ink will fade from ultraviolet exposure. this includes tanning beds

Not in the first couple of weeks post-tattoo for sure. The sun will affect the colours and healing of your new tattoo. Keep yourself out of the sun, and also keep off the swimming pool and sea for a couple of weeks at least as well.

It will adventually make them fade out, but that will happen over the years as you get older anyhow. The sun or sun tanning will just speed that process up.

uv rays will break down the ink in your tattoo. over time it will look horrible. the sun is bad for your skin and health in general. you really have to make a choice healthy skin and beautiful tattoos or... wrinkly leathery skin and faded tattoos.
