Where have you been this last week. In all the news worldwide has been the reports that the international panel of 12200 scientists has concluded that the odds of global warming being attributable to human activity is over 90%. The fact of global warming is totally unchallenged. Take your head out of the sand!
Coldness this week is weather, global warming is climate change. But then, I suppose you think the world is flat and believe in the tooth fairy.

There is no doubt that global average temperature has risen a couple degrees. Based on about 100 years of weather data. Course Earth has been around 4.5 billion years. So 100 years of weather data is meaningless.

There is still NO consensus on why the temperature has gone up. Don't be fool by the media. There is still much disagreement within the climatology experts.

Many people are making a huge mistake by associating current weather events with global warming. Just plain illogical to do such a thing.

Also, ice cores, tree rings, geological formations, ocean sediments among other things indicate many variations in Earths climate. It is well documented that there have been heat spells as well as ice ages in the Earths past.

I personally think there is a lot being made of global warming that is just plain wrong. There is no doubt that human pollution has negative effects. The problem is convincingly measuring those effects and postulating them to global warming.

Seeing as though recorded history doesn't go back to the begining of time, and since we do have records that the earth has gone through a major heat up and cool down once before, I think the answers to global warming are a bit mixed.

First off, as for temperatures, its not just what the temp. currently is, it has to do with averages. Just because your going through a coldspell, does not mean overall, your temps. are up. Look at cali. We went from having nights in the low 20's (in san clemente where I live it DID get that cold) to having highs in the 90's during the day.

I do believe that we have evidence to support that things we have done to the earth have not helped with our current situation, but there is NOTHING to prove that what is happening is not a natural part of the earths changes. Only time will truly tell. I do however believe that those that think nothin is goin on needs to do more reasearch. And I also believe that those that blame the problem completly on man is a bit naive. Something is happening, we know that. We just don't know for sure if its just the earth doing its "thing" or something more. And I would challenge anybody who felt different to show me hard evidence to prove there point.

The climate is changing and will continue to change. There is a lot of disagreement within scientific communities about the causes. That's why, a while back, more than 18,000 environmental scientists in the US signed a petition asking Bush not to sign Kyoto. I'd call that a lot of dissension.

The IPCC is a politically funded organization with politically motivated goals. Their arguments are not to be trusted for that reason. The fact that IPCC related organizations have actively suppressed dissension regarding global warming means a lot too. Why are they afraid of the scientists that don't believe their analysis?

This isn't natural. Here's proof.

To keylimepr. There is a natural "carbon cycle" which recycles CO2. We're messing it up badly by digging up large amounts of carbon the cycle buried over millions of years and burning it rapidly. Look at this graph. The little squiggles are the natural cycle doing its' thing. In the summer plants send the CO2 down a little, in the winter it goes up. The huge rise is us burning fossil fuels.

The IPCC scientists considered all possible natural causes, such as solar variation and volcanoes. By considered I mean they looked at hard data. And no natural cause, singly or in combination, explains the rapid warming. Here's the 21 page summary. The real report will be 1600 pages, loaded with data, and peer reviewed like no other scientific document has ever been peer reviewed. This is not a scam.

Volcanoes emit only a few percent of what man emits. They just show off more when they do it. They don't affect warming much, they increase greenhouse gases and also increase particulate matter, and mostly those cancel each other out.

This problem is ours.

The funny business is all on the other side. The global warming deniers tried to bribe scientists to disagree with the IPCC report. This wasn't a research grant, it was a straight bribe.

All of which is why these Republicans accept global warming as real and caused by us. You may not respect them all, but surely you respect some.

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

"The overwhelming majority of atmospheric scientists around the world and our own National Academy of Sciences are in essential agreement on the facts of global warming and the significant contribution of human activity to that trend."

Russell E. Train, former environmental official under Presidents Nixon and Ford

"We simply must do everything we can in our power to slow down global warming before it is too late. The science is clear. The global warming debate is over."

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Republican, Governor, California

"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."

John McCain, Republican, Senator, Arizona

"These technologies will help us become better stewards of the environment - and they will help us to confront the serious challenge of global climate change."

President George Bush

Bob G:
"That's why, a while back, more than 18,000 environmental scientists in the US signed a petition asking Bush not to sign Kyoto."
I think you're referring to the "Oregon Petition," signed by 15,000 "scientists." However, "when questioned in 1998, OISM's Arthur Robinson admitted that only 2,100 signers of the Oregon Petition had identified themselves as physicists, geophysicists, climatologists, or meteorologists, "and of those the greatest number are physicists."" In other words, these were not experts on climate change. The author was was not even a climate scientist. He was a biochemist with no published research in the field of climatology, and his paper had never been subjected to peer review by anyone with training in the field.

To the original questioner, please don't think that you can determine global climate change by looking out the window. The observation that the earth is warming is supported by decades of data from all over the world.

If you think we are being handed a huge political and environmental scam, who is behind it? Who is the party that stands to reap huge rewards from people believing in global warming? There is in fact a very, very wealthy list of oil companies and their supported "think tanks" with an obvious interest in attempting to confuse the issue.

I'm from Romania and...in our country the temperatures are very big for this time in year. That's the real effect of the Global warming.I'm sure that the Global warming is as real as you and me.
This is the effect of the people existence on this planet. There's no natural effect. You can feel it in the air how polluted it is and you can see with your own eyes how the cars, factories or other technologies and the humans stupidity is rapidly destroying the whole world. It's happening under our noses and we aren't doing anything to stop this! It's wrong, but that's the reality : CRUEL and WRONG!!

Hope it will help!!!! :)

It is not the scientists that are saying no...they have gathered them up from around the world and they all give definite "yes's".

It is the politicians who are saying no. Those who have been given money to run their campaigns by huge industries, the oil companies, the manufacturing plants who all worry about the holy buck they will lose.

As long as we listen to the politicians, nothing will be done. Watch the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" and see the facts for yourself. I think the people in general will step forward now and do something for our future generations.

We sure have made a mess for our kids, grandkids and greats...let's clean it up while we still can.

Hey your completely right.

The "scientists" who keep saying that global warming exists are just liberal drones. If they were true scientists, they wouldn't go into their experiments already assuming things.

Global warming is more or less a scam perpetrated by the libs to take advantage of the environmentalists and make them sympathetic to the democratic party. What they call "green house gases" is nothing more than carbon dioxide, its just the stuff plants breathe, its not really all that dangerous. Just a few years ago they were claiming that we were getting warmer because of a hole in the ozone layer, now they are claiming we need to make a hole in our carbon dioxide lol. Just shows how messed up they are.

So to all your liberal slaves out there: Don't worry, our planet is just fine. The only threat to our well being is Al Gore.

It's definitely a scam. I refuse to believe that the Earth being a 4.5+ billion year old organism can't adapt to a minor increase of carbon dioxide, when the oceans and lands alone emit 210 billion tons of it yearly.
