Global warming is here to stay. Kyoto accord has been met by 32 of 35 countries who signed it. The USA never signed it! Canada signed it but will not meet it!!! (1 of the 3) What small things can we all do as citizens of earth to help this... I know buy a different car, recycle, use less electricity, but what else as individuals?
Thanks

The Kyoto protocol is crap.
If you have read it, you would know.
Basically it states that we (USA) would have to spend an enormous amount of money fixing our country's' pollution problem, while countries like China and Indian can just continue burning coal and not using scrubbers on their smoke stacks.

Estimates are that China will be emitting more greenhouse gases than the USA in 2 to 3 years.
Canada is not going to follow the Kyoto protocol because they calculated that there is no way they can meet the goals of the protocol.
Germany has exempted its coal industry from the protocol.
Russia has no problem meeting the goals because most economies of countries in the former soviet union have collapsed.
Australia has signed the protocol, but never intends to ratify it.

BTW, Recycling isn't environmentally friendly.
More water and chemicals are used to recycle materials (except aluminum) than to make it new.

Anything you have that has a gas motor in it, replace it with an electrical device.
This centralizes the pollution to the power production plants.
The power plants can be more effectively maintained and controlled.
Advocate nuclear power plants instead of coal.

There is very little we can do as individuals...drive less and insulate our homes better...but it really won't make any difference...Global warming has been on the rise since the industrial age began...we are just now seeing the results from forty years ago..so the situation will get much worse...the best we can do is to adapt to the new climate...because it is here and it will stay for awhile (if geological data/history is correct)..and go on witht he things we have been doing..look for alternative and renewable energy sources..and keep reaching for the stars....I don't believe the global impact will be as bad as they are predicting..yes we will have violent storms and the oceans will rise (a little but not that much...after all most of the artic is floating ice...h2o displaces more while in solid form than liquid)...but the global calamity they are predicting probably won't appear....think about this way..the earth was much warmer during the Jurrassic period...and the dinosaurs walked on land..and there was plenty of it for them..so don't worry about it too much..man (and yes even other animals) are resilient enough to weather the coming change

There is no scientific evidence that we are causing global warming. But there IS scientific evidence that the Earth has warmed and cooled several times in the past...and man survived. Please do not believe the current media hype that man caused global warming. Even though the US didnt sign Kyoto, the US throughout the 70s and 80s increased regulation on emissions outputs from factories, and in the 90s and 2000s have required all cars to be emissions-tested. Progress has been made even though the US didnt sign Kyoto. The US HAS reduced its pollution, contrary to what the media is telling us. If you listen to the media, we are doomed in 10 years. Science tells us that the CO2 that supposedly is causing global warming is mostly coming from NON-HUMAN means. Do you realize that TREES give off CO2? The global warming science is flawed, and each day we get a new glimpse of the agendas of the global warming activists. They are LYING to you to promote an agenda. Time to re-wash your brain.

Global warming has happened many times before - even before human life evolved. CO2 is released in vast quantities from volcanic action and the weathering of limestone rock. The ice age that we are in at the moment may be coming to an end with a rapid rise in temperature over the next several decades. Recycling will have virtually no effect. I do not buy that man has caused this despite SOME scientists claiming this as being true.

Here are a few thoughts:
Replace incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescents; they use about 20-25% of the electricity. LED lights use even less, though they don't provide as much light.
Plant trees, if possible.
Use a reel-type lawnmower (the kind without a motor) if you can manage it. It's good exercise!
Consolidate your car trips; this requires some planning.
Watch your speed; even if your car is a guzzler, it will get better miles/gallon if you don't go above 55. This is mainly because of wind resistance.
Remove excess weight from your car; in other words, get rid of the junk in the trunk.
Buy more produce and less frozen food.
If you can afford them (and if local zoning ordinances permit), use solar panels and/or windmills.

I've just seen a news on TV ! They sad that, because of the Global warming, the level of the ocean has dramatically increased.
So...they advised us to use less water and to not use it for unimportant things.
So...this would be a small thing to do.But,if you have bigger thoughts, why don't you just spread the news about the Global warming because I'm sure that there are lots of people who haven't heard about it.
So start by using the computer in order to create some papers in which you should write the effects about this Global warming and what should people do to avoid this. Then take some friends of yours and spread the news!

I HOPE THIS WOULD HELP ! ;)

Probably the biggest impact can be made in the next Presidential election. Former Vice President Al Gore has helped lead the country to participate in international agreements and serious programs at home. So we can vote for a new President who understands the importance of Global Warming and the high costs to us if we ignore it.

Since Global Warming doesn't exist, there's nothing we should be doing under the umbrella of the Chicken Little syndrom currently referred to as Global Warming. Please note that the average temperature on Earth has not changed in centuries!

As for energy conservation and pollution control, which is really what you are talking about, we should do everything possible to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, conserve, recycle, buy energy efficient products, build energy efficient homes, etc...

Create more energy efficient vehicles. Also use nuclear power which is cleaner energy source then coal or gas.
