What Is Deli Food

deli foods are special foods or foods variations. You can find many deli foods in the market such as value added foods (for example a food with extra iron or any other thing added to it to enrich it). These special made products are made in reduced volumes because the public to whom they are directed is smaller. Such is the case of for example, a cheese seasoned with herbs or spices. Most of the people will go and buy the regular cheese while a few others like to try different flavors.
As the market for these products is smaller , these products are called deli, from the original word delicatessen (or "delicacy")and are usually more expensive because the production cost is higher. It requires special labor and sometimes depending on the product, the factories need to import special ingredients, etc. As the volume/markets are smaller the final cost per piece is higher than other products of the kind.

A delicatessen (also deli) is a type of store. The word entered English via German, meaning "delicacies" but is ultimately of French origin. It has different meanings in different countries. A North American delicatessen is often referred to informally as a deli. In some regions of Australia, the same words can be used to mean a general store or convenience store, or the same as the US usage
