There are ear drops to get rid of wax if that's the problem.
Sometimes an anti-inflammatory/decongestant preparation will work.
If it's very sore it generally is an infection in which case you'll need either antibiotic tablets or antibiotic eardrops, usually you need a prescription for these but it depends what country you live in.

Pouring peroxide in your ear is a good step, for now, but you really need to see a doctor. When I was in High School I had this ungodly pain in my ear. By the time I convinced my mom that it was serious, and got to a doctor I had a DOUBLE ear infection. I was treated with antibiotics and had to stick drops in my ear every 4 hours for days. I never want that to happen again. I tend to build up a lot of ear wax so I use ear drops to dissolve the ear wax and drain it. When I was a kid I got a lot of cases of "swimmer's ear," an infection caused by water getting trapped in the ear canal. A bottle cap (1-2 ounces) of Rubbing Alcohol in each ear after swimming stopped that problem. I hope you get to the doctor before something bad happens; like the infection passing into your brain, or causing enough swelling to pop your ear drum. Sounds ghastly doesn't it, well get to a doctor so it won't turn out to be YOU!

Do you use Q-Tips? don't do so in the future. I used to get ear infections all the time...cuz of Q-Tips! :P Ear wax does remove itself naturally. the usage of the above mentioned causes the wax to be pushed back into the ear canal and cause moisture to back up. this backed up crap can turn into what looks like swimmer's ear...very painful. I used to try to catch it early and let it air out by pulling my hair back from the ear. At night I avoided sleeping on the ear..cuz it would retain the moisture...do not muck with it (Blessed crocodile hunter :) ) I would definitely see a doctor though, I am not a professional, just an individual that had suffered in the past. About the wax that makes it to the outer ear...just so the wax is peeking out....gently remove the wax with something clean...not entering the ear canal. perferably something that isnt huge to push stuff back in. Something soft that wont scratch the ear. (IT's what I do :P but I know someone will say dont touch it at all lol )

my son gets ear infections all the time. Some minor ones will go by themselves apparently...(altho never witnessed this with my son) antibiotics normally clear them up, however a 2nd visit to dr & 2nd dose of antibiotics sometimes necessary.
It may not be an ear infection, but best to get it checked out in my opinion

Go see your dr they will confirm and give you antibiotics this is the only way to get rid of it. I sympathise i have had this myself. Ifyour ear is blocked you may need some drops in and an ear syringe again a dr will let you know. Hope its better soon

rub chapstick all around the ear, get a cottonball , put a drop of neosporin on it and place in ear.
Another old folks remedy would be put a garlic clove in ear lobe, but dont let it go down the ear.
warm u some olive oil on a spoon and drop a lil in ear.
Take motrin, gargle with vinegar warm water.
