I normally do aerobics straight after work and it's very satisfying once it's done, but often I find it quite a chore after a hard day at work.

I was therefore thinking about exercising first thing in the morning, to get it out the way, and then maybe get something more relaxing in after work, like yoga or toning.

Anyway, never exercised first thing, and just wondering how best to start. Do I have breakfast before or after? Baring in mind I also stick to a specific diet, is just a quick coffee and some porridge or crumpets, so quite light. Do I just get up and do it, or do I need time to get more alert first? Any more hints or tips would also be appreciated.

i get up at 7 in the morning and get on with it ( stretch and warm up included ofcourse) . i do drink some water before though, not much just a few sips. i enjoy my breakfast and find it all the more satisfying as i've worked up an appetite. but play around with it and see what suits you best. my friend HAS TO eat before working out even if its just a piece of fruit. that works for her. so really its up to you. as long as you see benefits and no ill efects, its all good.( but have a bite after workig out, i'm watching my food too so it works out well for me that i can work out first thing without having to eat first)

I actually starting exercising in the morning (I go at 5:30am) because I wasn't able to get to the gym after work on a consistent basis. I am finding that I enjoy it more because it is routine and there is no one at the gym that early.

I drink a cup of skim chocolate milk or OJ and a banana in the car on the way to the gym and drink lots of water once I get there. I need something to give me a little energy. I lay out my clothes the night before so all I have to do is get up, get dressed, let the dogs out and go. I have a lot more energy by 9am and am ready to face work!

U should at least eat something even if its just a banana.
Do some stretches like reach for the ceiling inhale deep,
then exhale.
Do side stretches, touch toes, simple stuff to get u going.
Exercise every other day or u may get muscle spasms.

I think that your plan sounds great. Stretch at least a good 15 minutes covering all muscle groups. Exercise then eat after, at least Ive always felt better eating after, that way you dont have anything sloshing around your belly during your exercise, which I hate.

Dont worry, you can wake up and take to the gym without stuffing anything down. The last dish you had last night is your energy stash for the morning, but you'll need to feed when you get back. I've got more packs than a liquor store thanx to my diet timing.

Well you start off by eating a good breakfast, - like Special K, a piece of toast, and a glass of orange juice.
Then warm up by doing several stretches with your legs and arms etc. It really helps. But wait a little while after you eat before you start doing exercise. Thanks
