15 February 1942 was the day the Japanese invaded Singapore during the World War II.

Total defence day is commemorated to remind us, Singaporeans, not to take peace for granted and every single Singaporean play a part in contributing to the peace that we are enjoying now.

Waste of taxpayers money. Ask any person what are the 5 pillars of defense and you get that 'blur' look. Just another recruitment ad imho.
