First, you are not a loser! Please change your name. You shouldn't be so hard on yourself--you are going through something very difficult, so cut yourself some slack.
Depression is not something you can just get rid of. I know--I've been there. Many doctors and other health care professionals will tell you depression like the one you've experienced comes from a combination of genetics, environment, and life experiences.
You have a few options: one, go see a psychiatrist and tell them how you feel--and they'll likely prescribe you something, or do what makes you happy. There are others out there who are having a hard time as well--and I know for some it cheers them up to help others. Also, you could try a NAMI support group. I've heard they're really good.
I know it can feel like you'll never pull out of it, but there is help. There are people who don't even know you who care about you. Believe me--you can do it! Just hang in there.
I hope this helps. Take care.

I went through depression in high school and I did it without medication through the help of friends, a chat room on AOL for depression, and writing. If you don't want to try meds (if you haven't already) find people to talk to, stay as involved as you can, and please don't isolate yourself. IF you have any thoughts of suicide GET HELP. You need to find an outlet for whatever is making you sad and get it out of you...don't hold anything in. But just remember...your friends and family love you and wants you to get better, so seek their help or at least see a physchologist of some sort. Good luck and I wish you the best!

A depression that long is called a Chronic Depression. The only way to get over it is to go to a counselor. I'm not suggesting chat rooms or such because those are well-meaning people, but they might just give you incorrect advice.

i imagine that you ought to diagnose the melancholy for the right reason. many situations it truly is actual, in that low means will make you depressed devoid of delay-Are there actual causes for the low means, thyroid, low blood rigidity, consistent hypersensitive reactions draining you (airborne) or dairy hypersensitive reaction which makes one sluggish and mind fogged- get a actual, get your blood checked for prime white cellular count number meaning there is a few an infection someplace- even a teeth. you won't be able to do remedy and take the psych meds if there's a actual reason bc it is going to bypass nowhere and also you'd be even extra depressed. If the actual is effective- then imagine decrease back to even as this began-trauma, grief, believing something someone advised you or suggested about you- etc. if it truly is the case, try yet another med equipment like homeopathy- threat-free, no uncomfortable area outcomes, over 5000 treatments mainly for different styles of trauma, abuse, grief, shyness, and on and on-treatments erase the indicators and develop your considered necessary rigidity and are astonishing on thoughts which psych meds won't be able to contact this section- they're like blunt rigidity equipment to numb you or boost serotonin stages - that you gained't favor that- and some all and multiple seems in this stuff for decades.Homeopathy ( see the mayo health middle in this equipment) you stop the medication bc it solves the challenge- frequently in a month or 2. when you're burnt out via paintings, caregiving, workaholic then get some remedy to cope with this precise.- in case you sense it truly is via no route- get remedy or existence coach to hit upon all tiny interests you'll have bc it truly is the direction for your pastime- shop on with something you've enthusiasm about bc it opens the door to extra- do not shop on with the herd. paintings on your non secular beliefs- bc all and multiple seems the following for something and has nicely worth- in case you imagine your nicely worth is determined with assistance from different "people" then you fairly is merely not fairly satisfied- bc it may continuously be taken away-no one is larger than yet another or has all of it jointly.

Find out root problem which causes depression. If it is due to chemical imbalance (i.e. physical), take anti depressant as prescribed. do more exercises and try to do something you "previously" (before your 3 years) enjoyed...e.g.watch movies or play computer games...etc. Don't forget to treat yourself real good. Indulge a little bit is fine! Good luck!

Depression hurts. I have not experienced it myself to the degree I need medication and therapy. Most people experience down times, but the truly depressed person does not seem to be able to pull themselves out of their funks. Science now believes one of the reasons it is caused is because some people experience a chemical imbalance in their brains. The medications they use to treat it helps balance those chemicals.
People with depression are not able to just "snap out of it". It is like telling someone who has just broken their leg to jump up and shake it off! Their thoughts loop in an endless cycle of put downs of themselves, telling themselves how worthless they are and/or how rotten the world is. These thoughts generally lead to a feeling of futility, depression, anger and the like. Over time these lead to a sort of haze, where it is difficult to feel anything, and this of course, leads back to the feelings of worthlessness. Many people who suffer from depression try to self medicate with illegal drugs or alcohol. They are trying to numb themselves.
It is hell on earth. I know, because I have witnessed the effects of it within my own family.
In spite of how difficult it is to seek help, please do so. As I understand it the best prognosis is gained by those who seek the advice of professionals. With a combination of medication and therapy most people experience a lessening of their symptoms, or a complete reversal of them.
This is a physical malady. Your brain is an organ like any other in your body. But any deviation in its functioning will produce drastic repercussions for your life spiritually, emotionally and mentally.
Think of it as treating any other dis-eased organ. If you have a headache, you take an aspirin. If you have kidney failure, you do as the doctor says and go through a treatment regimen designed to bring the dis-ease back into realignment. The same holds true for maladies effecting the brain. It is just another organ.
After seeking medical help for it and getting on a little more even keel, go out and volunteer somewhere for a cause you believe in. Mentor children, feed the homeless, volunteer at your church or the VA. These things help to get your mind off of yourself and give you a sense of purpose.
I cannot imagine going through the hell for three years. You are a very strong individual to have gone through it that long. My heart goes out to you.
These days there are clinics that charge on a sliding scale for their services. There is no need for you to suffer with this for one more day. Please, call your local mental health clinic today and make an appointment to talk to their counsellors. It will be the best thing you have done for yourself in a long, long time.
You will be in my prayers.
Good luck

Edited to add- As a first step in your road to wellness, change your screen name. Nobody is a loser. This is a symptom of the dis-ease.
