No..not true at all. You get a six pack two ways....exercise the stomach muscles to promote growth, and eliminate the layer of fat between the muscles and skin. Doing both of the same day have no counter effects on the other. Sit ups are anaerobic(meaning they do not require oxygen) and running is aerobic(requires oxygen). To really build the stomach muscles, add resistance exercise. A weight on the chest while doing sit ups, or crunches while holding on to a weight cable. This promotes the muscles to be better defined. Good luck.

Your abdominal muscles are naturally shaped into a "six-pack" formation. The challenge, then, is two-fold. You've got to both get your ab muscles bigger (doing a lot of different types of crunches, medicine ball work, etc) AND AT THE SAME TIME losing enough belly fat so that what you do have shows through. Men's fat tends to naturally pile up in their belly; women more so in the thighs, hips, etc. So it's very important to eat right. Also, you've got to lose weight (burn more calories than you take in each day) and in fact the best way to do this is through strength training and gaining muscle. This will actually help burn fat more effectively than dieting. Anyway, that's a different story - so how long it takes depends on how much belly fat you have vs. how defined your abs are. Less fat=more definition. So to lose weight, try and do (but not overdo) cardio, strength train in all areas, and do ab workouts like crunches. At the same time, watch what you eat (calories, fats, etc) and try to help yourself out on that end. If you just run, you'll lose fat but also muscle, etc. You're top abs will show first. Lower abs will probably take two months longer. Good luck. -- Oh sorry, didnt see it. 100 situps a day isn't going to get you anywhere fast. Do different types of crunches and lots more. But losing belly fat is still the key for a "six-pack".

What Logon 17 said.

Also - do the ab work first. That way your cruch/situps with weight will be limited only by your stomach strength, not by just being generally tired.
