EFFECTS OF LSD:

POSITIVE
increase in energy (stimulation)
increase in associative & creative thinking
mood lift
increased awareness & appreciation of music
increased awareness of senses. (eating, drinking, smell)
closed and open eye visuals
profound life-changing spiritual experiences

NEUTRAL
general change in consciousness (as with most psychoactives)
pupil dilation
difficulty focusing
increased salivation and mucus production (causes coughing in some people)
unusual body sensations (facial flushing, chills, goosebumps, body energy)
unusual thoughts and speech
change in perception of time
quickly changing emotions (happiness, fear, gidiness, anxiety, anger, joy, irritation)
slight increase in body temperature
slight increase in heart rate

NEGATIVE
anxiety
tension, jaw tension
increased perspiration
nausea
dizziness, confusion
megalomania
over-awareness & over-sensitization to music and noise
paranoia, fear, and panic
unwanted and overwhelming feelings
unwanted life-changing spiritual experiences
flashbacks

None of these are permanent. Flashbacks MAY occur, and I have had only one in 5 years of drug use. For me it was merely a feeling (a very good one) that lasted less than a minute.

Relatively LSD is one of the safest drugs you can ingest. Safer than alcohol or tobacco, and most prescription and illicit drugs.

In the long term, if you used LSD every day for years it could cause psychological problems. But even then, its the individual person, I have known people who took acid daily for 1-2 years with no truly negative side effects other than a decreased social appetite. But I ******* hate socializing sober, so I don't count that for much.

No. There will always be restrictions.... some drugs might be re-classified and may actually be legalized with restrictions (just as alcohol has legal restrictions). A huge problem with this nation though is its perception of crime and how to handle crime after the criminal has been caught and convicted. The public seems okay with paying for a criminal in prison but does not want to pay a dime for substance rehabilitation or treatment. Studies are very conclusive that the cost of a prisoner is much more expensive than treating a addict. This nation needs to get creative with crimes committed directly or indirectly connected to a addiction. Legalization of the substances is only half of the equation. European nations (as you have mentioned) have not legalized drugs without addressing the rehabilitation problem at the same time within their courts and jails. The US has been behind the rest of the world in this because we have politicized crime.

Brain Damage! What do you think "flashbacks" are? Any mind altering substances can also cause you to act rashly. People have been known to jump out of windows on LSD thinking they can fly!
