I would like to cement some pebbles to the top of my ugly wall, and presumed mortar would do the job. After experimenting, I find many pebbles are still rather loose. Is there something else I can add to the mortar to make it stronger, or should I try an alternative method? Also, do I need to prepare the wall in any way before I add the mortar?
Thanks in advance!

dust the top of the wall down , coat with a diluted pva (glue) solution (mixing ratio will be given on the tin) 3 parts soft sand x 1 part cement mortar , place on wall
dip all the peeles into the pva mix just prior to pressing into the mortar (good luck)

I think if your wall is clean and your mortar is made to the right consistency, then what you're doing should be ok. However, if they do still appear a little loose then perhaps you could varnish the pebbles and add a little extra glue underneath each pebble.

Just make sure wall is clean and dry, then add the cement and stick the pebbles in!

forget the rest ..this is the best ..mix the mortar ina mix of 3 to 1 putting PVA in the water to mix it this will make it creamy and sticky ...don't mix too loose but all so not too stiff .wet top of wall with a solution of water and ova ..apply mortar whilst wall is still wet .. then dip pebbles in neat ova and push into mortar then they wont fall out.....the ova is white ..but don't worry it dries clear

any quick dry cement should work fine. you may need to clean your wall if it has anything growing on it.
