I have changed the bedding many times -- fleece, doggie blanket, & plain sheets . I have also washed the crate she sleeps in (plastic carrier). She doesn't scratch during the day & is updated on all her shots and flea control..

It could be due to a number of reasons. It could be the heating you use, food allergies, just something the dog likes to do....If it gets to a point where skin damage is occuring contact your vet .Givng benedryl(1mg per 1 lb body weight) will help with the itching.

Ok - this is going to sound bizzare!!! A few years ago i rescued a dog, we took him in to our home and he was brilliant - he looked after us and loved us as we did him.

One problem - Scratching!!!!

It turned out that he wasn't infested with fleas, mites, etc, etc but he was literally allergic to 'life'.

Ok - let me explain - outside he was fine - natural environment, no itching, smelt clean, but when he was in the house - he would itch, scratch, bite (his paws - not us!), and smell to high heaven!!!

In the end - he was and 'outside dog' for the rest of his days. Ok - some people will think that this is cruel - but it was FOR HIM that he was an outside dog. He had a kennel - and he had various thigs such as sheep wool from the local farm to keep him warm in winter - he still got fed, loved and walked as the other 2 dogs did, but he lived outside!

Perhaps your dog/your dogs skin - cant tolerate man made fibres, ot anything man made at all?! Just a thought - it may be worth seeing what he is like living in the garden for a week/weekend!

Good luck!! x
