I'm a sufferer of migraines, so I kind of know what you are talking about. For me though, tablets don't work if it is really started (I throw them up).
Migraines are initiated through many things, ie your food habits (have you started eating something you're not used to recently ?), exposure to some chemicals (solvants, cleaners, ect) and of course excessive stress. For me, for exemple, I get migraines every time I have to give an interview. No way around it.
If you want to stop taking pills (even though you are lucky they work !), I suggest you do some breathing exercises. They help a lot, because for me they do what pills cannot do. Choose any style you want, yoga or something else. Sometimes this also makes me sleep (about 15 minutes) and I wake up totally refreshed, no pills needed.
Also check your food habits. For some people, tea will induce migraine (that's the case for my dad), for other people it is coffee, chocolate, or mint tea. The trick is to avoid taking these things for a while and see if you still have the headaches.
Also it's not a bad idea to get a good check-up from your doctor. Sometimes migraines are caused by other things (and I do not mean brain tumor; usually in the case of brain tumors, you will have other symptoms, such as speach impediment, paralysis, mood swings, ect). In some cases, liver or gall bladder problems will show up migraine as main symptom.
Hope this helps

Have your eyes checked out- you may need glasses or a new prescription. headaches can be bought on by the eyes straining over a long period of time which ties in with you getting them in the evening. Are you on a computer all day? if so give your eyes a break form the flickering screen and go for a walk for some fresh air. You are legally entitled to 5 minutes away from the computer each hour. Use it! hope this helps.

I too have bad headaches they have been diagnosed as migraines.First step if you have not all ready done it, have an eye exam. If there is any strain on your eyes you can get headaches. If you have seen your doctor and meds are not helping. Ask for a MRI of the brain. That should tell your doctor whats going on. It is the best he can see the whole picture that way. Good luck I hope you can get to the bottom of this.

Talk to your dcotor..it could be as simple as tension headaches...which is what I have. I had heaches EVERYDAY in high school so I know how much it hurts. Don't stress too much about the bad stuff. Your docotor may also order an MRI or CT scan...but again don't over worry yourself...it will make your headaches worse.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

Try this for 21 days: Take 240 grams of dried Goosebury excluding the seeds and 2 litres of curd. Boil it till the water evaporates. Grind it to become a paste and apply to scalp as far as possible or on your head. cover it with any sort of leaves or bath cap. Leave for 1.5 to 2 hours. Wash it off slowly under a running water minimum 15 minutes. Do it for 21 days and see the results. Good luck.

Pills can be done away with permanently if you are prepared to do meditation for half an hour in the morning and evening under the guidance of an experienced spiritual teacher through the process of self-realization.
