is it true that i may stunt my growth if i go to the gym even if i just focus on my upper body? i am 14 years old, 5'5" in height and i want to be a basketball player someday. i just want to put some pure muscle to help my game......i'll wait for your answers.thanks!!!!!

No, you will not stunt your growth! Please consider spending some time on your lower body though as you don't want to have a disportionate body image and you will need lower strength for all the running and jumping you will do as a basketball player. The most common cause of stunted growth is poor nutrition so be sure to eat a healthy diet with lots of fruit and vegetables. Your height is predetermined by genetics. A male will continue to grow until age 21.
