Poor upbringing. I don't mean the parents only, but even in schools. Growing up, I remember us in Catholic School having a subject called GMRC (Good Manners and Right Conduct). It was considered an important subject at par with other subjects taken in school. We were taught proper etiquette in dealing with others, proper table manners and how to participate in polite conversation. Failure in this subject means you will not be able to advance in grade level. The way young people behave nowadays, I don't believe proper attention is being given to this subject.

Decency and manners are something which no one can forget. It is a attribute of man. If someone forgets that then that person is already illmannered but is showing off as a gentleman in a society
Secondly
Bcause they dont want to waste time in showing decency and manners as they have to act mannerful and within that time the goods may go out of stock

Cheers

Actually nothing is 'free'
Gifts if given are for some reason.
If people do not like the gift you have given them , maybe you did not think before giving the gift. So many gifts recieved are useless and difficult to keep.
All the same, people recieving the gift should thank the person .

It is a material world. What ever is offered free, we try to get it whether we are eligible for that or not. In Tamil there is a saying that if it is free, give me two for the unknown relative.

If you are offered a gift that you don't like(especiall from a friend),the proper etiquette is that you recieve it in the fashion that someone thought of you as special enough to give you a gift.

They do so because as they are getting it free they won't realoze its value. You must have heard your or others parents to be complaining that you don't know the value of money and thus spend. If get free we realize the valule, thus it is important to charge people in very important things,so that they may atleast know its value.!

'What's the catch', springs to mind.
Like they say in the world of Economics, ' There's no such thing as a free lunch.'
Maybe they are speechless with glee.
