I would like to know things like how much notice do they have to give me for late or non-payment? Is there any financial help I can get from the government? I work in the UK.

If it is in your contract that you are paid on the 25th it has to be in there on that date so if the 25th falls on a sunday the money has to be in your bank by Friday 23rd etc

If you are employed you can take them to court but obviously it depends on your industry and whether you have a union covering you, if you have speak to them........

I don't think the goverment would help if it is just a few days late but if its only just started happening and its a small company it could be sign of financial difficulties

This is a tricky one...SO many clauses with contracts, employers,be they small,Ltd franchises,Read through yoUr contract/agreement it should state in there about lateness in payments.. The company has rites to hold back/deduct your pay if ur continuously late, tardiness of your job wot ever the excuse they give u they do by law have to give u prior notice so u can account for loss of earnings..However if they are paying you late you must show them a bank statement for the fees u incurred they should repay u for your hardship....As my Granny used to say never put all your eggs in one basket there's always a rainy day...

You should charge late payment fees or interest, if you have a contract legally you have them over a barrel. The government won't help you on this one unfortunately.

If you're worried about getting paid your contract should include a reasonable "penalty clause."

A penalty clause "fines" the other party if they fail to pay you on time.

If they fail to pay you on the day you are contracted to be paid, you can sue for breech of contract.
