Forever, because your belly is actually caused by fat deposits rather than weak abdominal muscles. You would actually do better to do 30 min. of cardio type exercise every day and work out your abs for 15 min every other day to give the muscles some rest time.
Also work them out in different ways so you don't get bored and your abdominals become more shaply.
you can start noticing dramatic changes in less than two weeks if done properly.

Abs alone will not do the trick.
Abs will strengthen your stomach muscles, but will not make you slim.
To burn fat you also need to do some cardio work out twice a week. ( about 20 minutes every time)
Also watch your diet.
If you do all this, you will see results in about two to three weeks, but things will improve as you stick to the exercise - diet plan.

Your stomach is fine? Everyones ribs stick out. But if you're convinced you want it flatter, do some situps, but mostly crunches and be consistent every day. Or do eight minute abs. I'm sure you could find something like that on youtube or something..

I've found abs excercises don't really do much if you aren't doing a proper excercise routine that works your whole body. You must train your whole body to drop fat all over and then you'll see it in your stomach. Your muscles will get stronger by ab excercises but if they're covered in fat then you won't see them. The best cardio is running and best routine is weight training......

Should be showing in a couple of months if you keep that up and are moderate with portions and alcohol. I shifted A LOT of flab from my tummy like this after pregnancy and and weight gain, if I can do that , anyone can. Stick with it, get on top of it now and it will be so much easier to avoid a pot gut for the rest of your life. Oh yeah drink plenty of water, I know it's boring and what everyone says, but it helps flush your system out.

apparently 3 weeks doing sit ups EVERY night works - I only ever get to 3 days then give up - so cannot say for sure if this works!!! general excercise I imagine, cutting down food portions, eating healthily and some sits ups probably all helps towards a flat tummy!! good luck!!!!

mosub1980: As The Philippines is -from about, now-on- TOO hot:
'ma init, na ma init'! You ought forget 'bout jogging -for, ONE: it can KILL!
The Answer, my friend is quite simple: Get a job in La Union -or Tacloban,
and live near to the coast. Every morning; real early: swim like Ian Thorpe
-the (now) retired Aussie swimming champion..
Swim, furiously, once you reach the 2nd week: THAT is "the secret"!
Fat IS NOT removed by perspiring: such treatment OF your body [will harm]
-your already, (over-loaded).. heart, possibly causing you.. to simply 'not-wake-up: "DEAD-bole: in-the BED" ! Nice? -Not really.
Of course; watch your diet! (If you're gonna eat PIG FAT..
quite simply, you will LOOK like: "Mr. FAT-Babwoi-Babwoian''!
(-OBVIOUSLY !) And "fries": THEY are.. OUT !
You live in a Paradise of readily available fresh fruit: EAT Philippine fruit;
-thrive on IT, Man! AND SWIM. You see: THE cool thing.. about swimming
is that: 'it-IS'. A fat boy is ABLE to do daily strenuous exercise..
and God provided the Ocean 'specially to COOL (the Fat-Boy)!

15 minutes isn't enough. do multi-range workouts. I.e. obliques, solar plexus, lower and upper abs. cut the junk food out. my ab work out takes about 45 minutes.
