I have thin hair on the top of my head due to wearing buns all my life that were pulled back pretty tight as well as semi bald spots on the sides of my head due to genetics I think...I have tried Organic Root Stimulator' s Fertilizing Serum and Temple Balm but had to stop because when used as prescribed they actually effected my skin along my hairline so that was the end of that. I have asked pharmacists about Rogain...but was informed that after you stop the hair falls back out...what should I do? I'm thinking of using the Rogain anyway and then slowly but surely stop using it...or I'm thinking of seeing a dermatologist as a last resort. What do you think I should do and if this story is familiar to you and you found a product that restored your hair what was it?

What you have is called "Traction Alopecia" it is a type of baldness. There is a product called Nioxon this is great for growing back hair, there is shampoo, conditioner, treatment, oils and tonics all of these products help, you won't need all of them. Probably just the shampoo and conditioner and tonic, you rub the tonic into the balding spots and the hair will regrow. In the mean time don't pull your hair back tightly, and massage the scalp to promote blood flow this increases blood to the scalp to make the hair grow faster. I hope some of this helps :)

As suggested above, Nioxin products are wonderful but expensive. It's worth it though. Also try putting castor oil on your scalp. Not the commercialized castor oil products, but straight up pure castor oil. It not only will it help your hair grow, but it heals the parts of your scalp that have been damaged and will help it grow thicker. Good luck!!
