18 months ago I had a spot come up on my cheek and it got infected, took a long time to heal, scabbed over and left me with a slightly indented, bright red mark. Some people say it is a scar and some say it is pigmentation, whatever it is, it is not fading. I have tried so much stuff; glycolic acid peels, crystal clear microdermabrasions, bio-oil, palmers scar serum...the list is endless.

To be honest, I am struggling to cover it up. Normal concealer makes it look like I have an orange patch on my cheek. It is really noticeable and has dented my confidence. I have to have makeup when my partner is over or the lights off so he cant see it. I have endless nights or tears because my face is ruined. It has really caused me to lose a lot of confidence and I hate what i see in the mirror.

Can anyone recommend anything or have you been there before?

You can try home remedies to fix the scar or if that doesn't work you'll have to do a plastic surgery.

You can read about home remedies for scars here : http://www.grannymed.com/Meds/scars.aspx

Like those:

# Smear Vitamin E Oil Caplets on the scarred area.
# Smear some tea tree oil on the scar to help it heal faster.
# Put 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil on a cotton ball and apply on scar.

Good luck

I heard somewhere that applying whitening lotion on the scars would help. I have no clue if that actually works but the scars will go away eventually. In my case the scars usually go away after about 7 months.

how sorry i am to hear how this is effecting your confidence so much..you could probably benefit from lazer surgery..this would have to be done by a plastic surgeon..when i was doing my nursing training i remember seeing people gettig lazer done to remove birthmarks and port wine stains etc..the results were fantastic..it did take quite a few sessions and i can be expensive..you should check with your doctor first to see if it would be suitable

You have tried every thing which would have been tried by a Doc for normal sun burn etc. In my opinion you will have to go under a cosmetic surgery.

go to the doctor tell him how it is making you feel about yourself, he may give you the correct cream to fade it or send you to a skin specialist
if you do go to a cosmetic surgeon be careful.
