Because when they put real lemons in dishwasher tablets etc, they can use additives and stabilisers to stop it from going rotten, but these may not be ediable.
Therefore to be able to eat a lemon flavour juice substance it cannot be real.
Gettit?

Depends on what what you mean by "lemon juice." If by lemon juice you mean just the raw, unsweetened lemon juice that you use for cooking, well then I don't know where you're shopping, 'cause I buy that RealLemon brand stuff and it really is just lemon juice (from concentrate). If you mean lemonADE, on the other hand, then yeah they might use artificial flavors. They use artificial flavors in a lot of foods (of course) in order to get just the right taste and save money, but you really can't make lemonade without some actual lemon juice (but it can be from concentrate). Seriously, I know that people always talk about how this food is all fake and that food is completely artificial, but the fact of the matter is you usually can't make a food product without having some of the actual real food in it-----
As for the dishwashing liquid, well, they'll say made WITH real lemons - they never said made out of lemons - the "made with lemons" thing usually means that it just has some lemon product in it, like lemon oil or lemon concentrate.

I would assume it may have something to do with something like enhancing the flavor of lemon juice or else making a product that won't go bad because it will be used in foods; while dishwashing liquid doesn't need to taste good or stay edible.
Also, though, I'd think that while the purpose of artificial flavoring is to enhance flavor (or create the flavor completely), the properties of real lemons that make them good for cleaning products are probably not present in artificial flavoring.

I think it's because in food, they can make it taste stronger/better using less expensive ingredients (in addition to real lemon juice which makes up the bulk) while in dishwashing liquid, it's just good marketing to say it has "real lemon juice" in it.
In the one, people think about the real lemon juice as being the main ingredient, and so they assume it's good for them; in the other, they think about the "natural" lemon juice being in there instead of thinking about all the artificial detergents and stuff that are nescessarily also in it, and so they think the same thing: it must be better than a formula that has no juice.

That's a good question. Perhaps they used all the lemons in the dishwashing liquid so there is none left to make the juice.

Good Q.
Well artificial lemon juice would last longer.
And the good qualities of real lemon is needed to clean dishes. Chemicals in it help it to retain.
So is why.
PS: Oh and that way they can say it is "organic" and charge you a good amount for the dish washing liquid!

Good question , we know lemon juice is a good cleaner , but as for lemon juice sold in shops and artificial flavour , can not be the cost ? may be its a seasonal thing and the artificial is always available , but try and always use fresh lemons in cooking

because if we tasted the real thing our face would squeese up because it is too sour, but in the washing up liquid the lemon is an antiseptic and cleans the dirt off the dishes!
