I have so many important moments in my life I want to treasure forever, but it's not things people generally tattoo. Like the twin towers. It is close to my heart. And my grandma, and my nephew....How do you pick what to have put on your body for the rest of your life?

Pick the most important thing to you and tattoo it on.....I PROMISE you that if it's good ink....you'll be back for more...than you can get your second most important thing.....etc

You will peel the ink off when you pick at the scab that's why they say don't pick at it or scrub it while you are in the shower because this could make the ink fade When I got my tattoo the artist told me to pat my tattoo when it itched that seemed to help you can also apply this stuff called tattoo goo or a&d anointment to help it heal faster. But if I were you I would wait until my tattoo healed completely and go show it to a tattoo artist to see what he/ she thinks and if you need a touch up or not also remember avoid direct sunlight and use sunscreen on your tattoo when it heals direct sunlight can make your tattoo fade as well

if you are unsure go ahead and look at flash art on the walls of tattoo parlour for inspiration and then go home and think about it. when you think you know make appointment with artist and talk about what you want to have done and they will take some time to do an original piece of body art.
remember that most self respecting tattoo artists will not copy someone else's work but may use it for inspiration
I have 5 and each one tells of a significant time in my life

It is truly a personal choice.
If you looking into having just one put on your body, combine the memory of people in your life with something that reminds you of all of them.
If you want several tattoos, have something tattooed for the memory of each of them.
Hope this helps.

If i was you i would get 3 different tattoos i would get the twin towers in the middle of a heart or put them right by your heart for your grandma and nephew you should find 2 really good pictures that you like and get two different portraits and if the picture has both of them in it get a portrait with both of them in it

for me it's easy because when i think of it i just KNOW that's what i want to get. i wouldn't say that the things you want to get tattooed aren't typical things. plenty of people after 9-11 got tattoos of the twin towers. and lots of people get tattoos having to do with family members. just go with what your heart tells you to get.

personally, my tattoo is a memorial to my poppy, and personalized to potray my life stuggles and success. my advice would be to personalize something that really represents you. i do not reccomend a rock band or something you are bound to grow out of. nobody knows you better than you. good luck and have fun!
