As above - save it in work, burn it onto a disc and open it on your laptop. Make sure you download the correct operating system update - such as XP or 2000.
I would recommend using a CD-RW as you can write over/re-use (hence CD-RW(re-writable)) them as more updates become available.
The WMP files are here ( http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx?displang=en&qstechnology= )

Yes, U can download the updates to a pc and write it to a cd and can update all other pc or laptops.
To do that go to http://microsoft.com/download
and on the left select the Windows Security & Updates
Here U will get the list of downloads and updates ..

You need to download the setup of Windows Media Player from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1d224714-e238-4e45-8668-5166114010ca&DisplayLang=en
There download the executable (*.exe) file and use that file to install/update the existing Windows Media Player Installed on any system. Of course, you can burn the setup on a disc and install it else where on any number of computers.

Holy ****, giant wall o' text. Well, you made a dumb choice, friend. You fell victim to a ransom virus that hijacked your computer. To answer your question, I will tell you that you are royally boned now. I'm almost positive that your computer can't be saved, and I'm sorry. You can still try to save it, though. Try opening Windows in "Safe Mode" when you get your unit to start up again, and try to log on to find "Spybot: Search and Destroy" However, the re-install shouldn't be too hard. A Windows XP disk may be hard to come by, but you can, in fact, wipe your system and reinstall Windows, although you will lose all your files. A Vista disk shouldn't be hard though, it's relatively new. If you don't mind re-doing everything, get a new setup disk. They aren't very expensive, and some pawn shops might carry them. Again, I'm really sorry about your loss. This has actually happened once on one of our old personal computers. I know it can be rough. Good luck.

Ya, you can..but ensure that whether the corresponding SW is installed or not in another one.
Ex: In your pc Norten anti viruas is installed, you downloaded latest updates to install in it. fine. You can upgrade the same updates in your laptop also, when Norton anti virus is available in that.
You can upgrade any number of systems by copying them in to CD, but make usre that the corresponding SW is already installed in another system or not?
