A blind man walked into a bank with his seeing-eye dog that guided him everywhere.

He walked into the centre of the bank floor, took the dog by the chain and started swinging him around his head.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared. The other customers were taken aback and some were very upset at the way the animal was being treated.

One of the tellers ran up to the blind man and asked, "Sir, what are you doing!?!"

The man turned toward the teller and said, "Oh, nothing - just looking around."

This guide dog was trained with a specific routine and behaviors and has performed them over and over for many years. It will take a long time to "untrain" her. You can't expect a guide dog to just suddenly drop the training that has been drilled into her for so long. You can't work on changing all these behaviors at the same time as you will just confuse her. She is also an older dog, so it will take longer to retrain her. Be very gentle and patient with her as she is already stressed out from getting a new owner, moving to a different home, and having to stop being a guide dog. Her reason for living up to now was to assist her owner - now what is her purpose? Eventually she should figure out that she can relax and enjoy her life now that she doesn't have to be on alert and work so hard any more. You should contact organizations that train guide dog as they would be well aware of the needs of a retired guide dog and should be able to give you information or direct you to sources that will help you.

My brother is blind and has had various guide dogs since the age of 19. He also has a sense of humour so I will pass on this joke which he may already have heard but will still give him a laugh.
A few years ago he went into a store that sells mobile phones. He wears dark glasses but the person behind the counter didn't notice this or his dog and asked if he could produce his driver's license as proof of identity.
