a new baby. My husband has had a rash, nausea, diziiness, weakness, difficulty breathing-all these symptoms-that have developed ajust a few days since we got our new puppy. He always feels like throwing up. Today, my son is dizzy the whole day, and has thrown up. I'm fine, but could it be that my husband and son are suffering from sever allergy symptoms? Or maybe it's the underlying strong 'hound smell' that's makign them nauseated? He's a very clean puppy. We bathe him, and always wipe him. Could it be allergies to his urine? We are living in a condo, he goes in an area inside our house, but the urine is immediately cleaned up. Immediately. What' going on? Will I have to give up my new baby basset hound?

I would suggest that your husband and child go get checked my your doctor to see if it is the dog bothering them. In the mean time I would keep the dog in a seperate area to sleep and make sure that your family washes there hands after playing with the dog and that you clean up after the dog when he does have an accident until you find out what is going on. I would also try to get your dog used to going outside to go the washroom because it isn't the cleanest thing to have them go in the home. It may be a pain, but it's worth it especially if he is making your family not feel well. Also, your hubby and son cold have a bug, so check that at the doctor soon! I hope that it isn't the dog because I know how attached you get, I have a dog aswell. Good luck!!!

Has the dog been bathed with something your family is allergic to? Some flea treatment, for example. Also, it is possible the puppy had shots for something and some of it got transmitted to your family, especially if they had a cut or open sore. I hope it's not wearing a flea collar--they are so toxic. See your vet. As for the hound smell--my hound doesn't have a unique smell; this makes me think your dog was treated with something by the breeder.

Good luck. Bassets are very loving, but can be inclined to wander off. Ours jumped from balcony to balcony along the row of condos and then down into the parking lot.

Could your family have a virus... go to the Doctor before making any assumptions... I have never heard of anyone being nauseated or dizzy as a result of an allergy... sounds like the flu!

I suppose it could be sever symptoms, you should really ask a doctor, you shouldn't make a big decision like this without, at least, a professional decision.
