It really depends on what your daughter has asked for.
Normally for long hair it would be foils, but they cost twice the price, and can take twice as long. Some hairdressers prefer to use the cap, because of a more even coverage, less chance of seepage and its easier to tone afterwards.
These days its just considered old-fashioned to use the cap, but it still comes in handy.
I still like the cap for my husbands hair.

I have long hair and the cap hurts cause it has to come from the mid of my back and up through the cap, foils would be the best as it give a more even colour it will cost more but you get a better end product.

i used to work as a hairdresser and would never have used a cap on long hair.not only are foils or easi-meche less pain full than a cap but also with a cap you cant see exactly where the highlights are going, you'd get a more even result with foils.hope i have been of some help.

any good colorist would use anything other than a cap.
it's not precise and may break long hair though it is fast and cheap
using foil or wrap allows different colors/ tones to be used and specific placement and amount on the head
I have used a cap on super short hair but not in perhaps 5 or 10 years

DO NOT USE THE CAP!! The cap rips hair out and the results are very random! If you use foil, you get better results and less hair loss...spend the extra money!

I had highlights done this way last year and my hair is past shoulder length. The result was good but when I saw another hairdresser, she said that she would not have used the cap as it can be painful on long hair.
