THEY = The majority whom do not have any sense on how to confine their animal. THEY have been doing his for years: allowing their dogs to escape & acting like poor white trash. THEY have been reprimanded by law & are making me (the rest of everyone who acts sensible) look bad.

I know how to cage my animal. I should be allowed the right to not spay or neuter. But that's since I am a sensible owner who promises to "Not ever allow my pet to overpopulate or produce an excess of offspring for monetary gain alone".

Yeah Breedings not only done for puppy mills. No sane person thinks that. Simply been a few sickos on Animal Planet that got people stirred up.

I'm not fixing my dog either ! Neutering does harm the abilities of energy level for the type of application one wants their dog for: show, sledding, hunting, etc.

Should someone wish their dog to stay highly physically active, then to spay or neuter dulls their senses into tiredness & oversleeping for male or female dogs.

Perhaps I want to take my animal to a dog show & have them want to run around peppy & full of energy a few years from when I got the dog.

I've seen many dogs & cats get lazy & develope urinary tract disorders & be dead in a few years. So not best to neuter. People should have that choice !

Puppy mills are not the only source of the pet overpopulation problem. People who think like you are just as much to blame for all the wreckless breeding that takes place. There is a HUGE responsibility in breeding and being ethical and way too many don't bother with it. The reason they don't is because then breeding isn't financially feasible. Regardless of if breeding for profit, or simply because you "want" to, it's VERY EXPENSIVE to do it RIGHT. Testing of the sire and dam to ensure they do not have any genetic issues that can be passed on to the pups--hip dysplasia being a very common one that ALL breeding dogs SHOULD be tested for, but sadly are not. You need to make a LIFE TIME commitment to every single puppy produced. If someone decides they can't keep a dog they got from one of your litters, then you need to be taking that dog back in order to rehome. Your everyday backyard breeder DOES NOT do this and is the reason SO MANY dogs are in shelters every year.

Go to the akc.org website and look at their ethical breeding guidelines. ANYONE NOT WILLING to follow these guidelines are only adding to the overpopulation problem and yes, should just have the dog altered and be happy with their pet.

Out of curiosity why do you think you have the right to breed your dog?I'm not being smart here,I'm serious.
Breeding is'nt pretty. Many dogs are injured badly if it's not done at the right time. You can't just put 2 dogs together and let them go at it whenever you're ready.
Think about this-How would you like it if your parents had brought some stranger in your room and said it's time we had grandkids so get busy then locked you in to be raped ignoring your screams and crying to get out till the deed was done and if it did'nt take they locked you up to have to go thru it all again? That's what breeding is like!
So I ask again-Why do you feel you have the right to breed your dog?
Before you choose to force your dog into this situation you need to go to the nearest shelter and take a tour.Ask yourself if that's what you want to happen to the pups you wanted to bring into the world.
If you don't care then by all means breed your dog but you're really no better than those who operate a puppy mill. You're adding to the problem not helping fix it.
If your pet is spayed/neutered it'll be alot calmer and will be healthier than an unaltered dog is.
And people feel they have the right to suggest what you do with your pet because you asked for their opinions. What you do with your dog is your buisness. You're GOD to that animal. It trusts you and loves you and if you feel the need then the poor dog will just have to get over whatever you force it to do.After all it's a dog.It has'nt got any rights other than the ones you choose to allow it to have and it has no feelings either does it?But since it can't speak for itself how would you know?Think about it.

Number 1- It is healthier for your dogs. Females have much
fewer problems when older the earlier you neuter the less chance
of female problems later on which are very serious and can cut
your dogs life shorter or cause death.

If that is not enough look at the shelters and dogs that are put down every year - we have too many now. Unless you are aware of health and issues specfic to your breed and are willing
to deal with those in a serious manner you should not be breeding. Breeding is serious and there are lots of complications that can arise during this time and could cause you to have large
vet bills dealing with those or loss of your pet.

Life is much simplier for all when females are not coming into season and all the worry that should go into making sure nothing happens unexpectably. Your dog will be much happier and healthier if spayed or neutered. Male dogs are easier to handle
if you do not have to deal with females in season.

Ask your vet they can tell you about health issues.

Do not take it personal, most people get that answer.
people can do what they want 2 do and they r going 2 anyway regardless of what anyone says, BUT........... there is enough unwanted pets in this world . If u did rescue like i do we see all kinds, even people that say they r reputable breeders. There r reputable breeders and then there are byb's.Byb's breed their dogs for profits and do not care about breed standards. These dogs usually get neglected and/or abused and end up in places like mine if they r LUCKY. people think the fait of the puppies r good since people pay for these dogs. NO the facts r they have a slim chance just like a mutt.
People r more down on the breeding of mutts and not getting them neutered or spayed. THERE are too many unwanted pets in this world already and people keep contributing MORE

It's not a personal attack against you. It's just that there is such and over population of dogs and cats, that all the shelters are full. It is a very sad place to visit. I wish I could save them all, but the sad truth of the matter is that every day, in every shelter across the United States hundreds of unwanted animals are being put to death and the feeling is that by spaying or neutering your pet, maybe someone will adopt one of these poor animals on death row. Why bring more animals into this world to take the chance of life away from an abandoned shelter animal.

It is your dog, and your decision. I really don't see anyone pressures anyone who answer a question to spay/neuter there pets. Yes, it is your decision. but, you only have to go to your local pound or shelter and then you will have your answer to why so many people support spay/neutering your pet. Too many pets euthanized because of owners not being responsible. If you have a show dog, and want to continue the line fine. But, again there are way to many unwanted pets born every year. It's not a bad thing, it is a really good thing to have done if you don't want to have more unwanted pets.

Spay and Neuter is not only helping to control the pet population, but it also controls the behavior of the male. I don't think you would want him humping someone's leg. The female can also get ovararian cancer, my neighbor's dog did and he had to put her down and yes, he was breeding her.

Yes you do have the right to choose and if you do decide to breed and she has about 6 puppies, I hope you can find loving and caring homes for all of them. Then pray they don't end up in the pound.

I agree 100% with spay and neuter. Yes it is your dog and your choice. Just think of all the fur babies put to death every day. If you feel like you must have a litter, please see to it that you have homes for the pups, homes where they will be loved and cared for and not put in a shelter once the "puppy" wears off and the people don't want a dog anymore. My problem would be letting them go, I'd want to keep them all. For health reasons it's best to "fix" your dog, to avoid cancers and other problems.

All you have to do is go to your local pound or animal shelter to see why it is a good idea to fix your pets. Unless you are going to breed and be prepared for this responsiblity then why risk having another poor animal have to be put down because there is noone who can take care of it properly. I do agree it is your choice, but you have to deal with the consequences if the dog has puppies that nobody will take.
