If something is important I won't forget, especially happy memories. But one of my friend, she always forgot which boyfriend bought her the gift, as she has lots of boyfriends and ex-boyfriends. I think if there are many things in your mind, then you will start to forget things; and espeically those which are not that important to you.

Well, personally I have forgotten alot of my personal past due to a crappy life I wish to forget.
I think this is the reason any of us forget the past, all except for a few really good times or really bad ones! Those seem to stick forever.

I think we forget a lot, but we also remember the weirdest things. Like I'll remember a commercial jingle from 10 years ago but I won't remember what I got up to do 5 seconds ago.

This is interesting, Some people accuse old age for most memory loss.
its funny hehehe, i can remember things i did when i was 4, but i cant remember what i did last week. I forget the names of almost everyone i love and yet i can remember that i love them. So FAR.
Memory loss for me happens MOST of the time after I have slept for more than 4 hours. its like my mind automatically goes into Amnesia mode everytime i sleep.
I think the book of proverbs mentions that a poor person is allowed to DRINK so HE can forget. So alcohol can be a type of memory erasing elixer.
However, i heard the testimony of BOB LAZARR (or was it dave adell?) anyway he was confronted by area 51 employees, and testifies that his mind and memories were completely erased to some extent.
So, i have no reason to doubt his mental abilities, therefor i have to conclude there are some types of DRUGs that will both brain wash and Program the mind.

this is my theory on how memory works. our mind is exposed to environmental toxins, even pharmecutical type drugs, these drugs are most likely air born particles that look like dust floating in the air. for example i was doing patrol out at a construction site one night the air was clear and you can see the stars. but I heard a noise in the woods and turned on my Million watt Spot light and to my amazement what i saw was particles in the air that looked as big as Snow flakes, but they were only visible to spotlight and not to the naked eye with car headlights.
Anyway the mind and memory are connected to what foods are eaten and what types of drugs are present in the blood. When ONE drug is present all memory has a KEY to those certain molecules, but if a second Drug or even a third or fourth drug comes along and burns away any parts of the molecules existing in the memory paths, than the memory itself can be deleted altogether.
The mind itself has its own constructions of chemicals that can be blocked by other drugs that impair the correct functions of the mind process. its like cutting a groove in concrete and filling the groove with plaster or rubber or tar. the mind can seem to work OK with cracks filled, but wont work properly with FILLERs in them. if brain damage is to severe, there is NO healing in the mind and over years of time because even the filler(s) are worn away Senility and Dementia can set in.
Of course this is a crude description of my theory.
the rotten thing about these kinds of mind control options are often practiced by Good people of God who are actually deceived. See rev 18:4, 23. clearly the bible describes these things as wickedness. but people think they do good. maybe in some circumstances there is temporary relief, but the only relief from being poisoned with drugs is to either convince people to choose NOT to follow satan or Bloodshed. Generally a prophet or priest of God will get murdered in trying to do just these things. and the death of a prophet who is MARKED by the BEAST for death, it is quicker and less tribulation to die quickly. but at the same time For one who dies too soon cannot fulfill his mission.
Sorry for the LONG answer. I can type all night. :)

Because our brain has the tendency to organize our memory from the most memorable to the least memorable ones.

Because it isn't worth remembering. If you regularly access those memories, you don't forget them. If your brain doesn't access those memories, you will eventually lose them.

Because it is not that important. The only "life" my past has is the "life" I "give" it.
