Hmm....I would suggest the truth. The truth goes a long way. You usually only have to deal with the truth once. A lie begets more lies to cover for the first lie. Lies get very complicated and, ultimately, people won't trust anything you say.

Be aware that there is a difference between an excuse and a reason.

The reason is.... I didn't do my essay is because I mismanaged my time and didn't realize I couldn't get five weeks of work done in an 8 hour all nighter using Wikipedia as my only source.

The excuse is....the dog ate my homework.

Your proff has most likely heard every *excuse* in the book. If you tell the truth and give the real reason why something happened, or didn't happen, your proff may prove to be a lot more helpful and than you think.

So, try to truth first and see how that works. Good luck.

Explain to your professor why you have done nothing, purposefully skipped reports, and beg for him to give you extra time that you'll probably also waste. Be sure to give him puppy dog eyes when you hand in your letter. If that doesn't work, fake a heart attack. In short, go sign up for the next time this class is offered because you're going to have to repeat it. If you've had six months to work on the project, you're not going to be able to complete it overnight, and it's got to be worth a lot of your final grade. Hopefully, you've learned a lot from this mistake.

What does your professor need to be excused for?

Sorry.

Here goes....

Your computer ate your homework;

the punks next door either stole your bike or they took the battery out of your car (cutting the cables when they did so);

you thought you were taking your vitamins, but you took your housemate's sleeping pills instead. (good thing your car wasn't working, wasn't it?)

I did once tell my French teacher that I hadn't done my homework because I'd been kidnapped by aliens...

but I told her in French, and there was a context, I promise!
