I often wondered about the same thing.
You would have thought that after so many years´eperience they would stop practising and do it for real....
If adonis... was right, then we scientists should also say that we are "practising" as the same is true for us (i.e., not a job, a profession, etc etc...)

in english practicing means something that you do not know properly and are still getting a grip over it.so that is what doctors do as they are not "yet" familiar with the Complete human body ,they are said to be practicing.
once they get the hold over the complete human body and all its functions they will not be called practicing anymore.

When we, doctors, are said to be practicing, it means that we are applying the skills and knowledge we learned in Medical school in our profession. Being a doctor/physician is not a job. It is a profession, meaning that the primary goal is to cure sickness and not make profit off of people. Practicing does not mean that we are "experimenting" or "playing around" with patients. It simply means that we are using our talents to be of service to humanity.

Medicine is not an exact science. That is why so many meds are manufactured to treat the same disorders, bacteria and such. People are individuals and have different needs. Some people are allergic to Penicillin so other antibiotics have been developed to kill bacteria and not kill the person because of an allergy.

BECAUSE MOST OF THE TIME THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IN HELL THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. THEY WENT TO SCHOOL FOR 15 YEARS AND THEY STILL HAVE TO GUESS WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. SO, THEY ARE STILL PRACTICING ON YOU,' THE PATIENT.'
