My son was in the hospital for 3 days last week with it but the doctor wants him to come back tomorrow for a chest x-ray so hopefully it has gone away and gotten better.

It depends on if it was viral or bacterial pneumonia. In any case, I would say three weeks to feel back to normal.

I've had pneumonia a few times and when I was 7 I spent over 2 weeks in the hospital.

In the third grade i had walking pneumonia, a little less worse than pneumonia but still lethal. I got over it in a month and a bit.

2 weeks is the time it will take him to recover, with the antibiotics. But it will take his body more than a month to recover completely.Give vitamin supplements so that he builds his immune system.Vitamin C also as he will be more susceptable to other infections as he is weak.
I was hospitalised with bacterial pnemonia for 4 days.I was really tired for almost 2 months and one of the side effects was hair loss and the doc said it was normal. So watch out of that and don't panic. My daughter also had pnemonia-viral.She also took 1 month to be completely OK.Take it slow for sometime.

About 2 weeks. Make sure to give your child ALL the antibiotics that the Dr. prescribes even if they feel/appear better before you finish the prescription.

I hear people die of this, take him to the doctor often, and get second opinions
