The greatest folly of humankind is the belief that we can obtain permanent happiness in the temporary material body. Even though we are constantly suffering from all kinds of miseries, we are deluding ourselves with the quest for happiness, not knowing what happiness is. Whenever we are temporarily not suffering some misery, we call this state happiness, and when misery inevitably finds us, we think, "Oh this is nothing. I can still be happy. As soon as this misery stops, then I will always be happy".
This, of course, never happens, because even if there is no more material discomfort, then old age, disease, and finally death come to disillusion us.
