Humm.. question is a little slanted.. but what the heck.... If you can have a body and life without a God. In other words, the organs all work together, blood flows, air fills the lungs. Then why can't there be a spirit too. the same way as human developed self awareness and conscious, they grew a spirit ... Now after that jump... what is a ghost but a disembodied spirit.. a spirit after the physical body is gone.. So if you assume that humans developed a physical body over time without a god.. why can't they have developed a spiritual body/energy over time as well.

I don't believe in ghosts any more than I believe in the person who lives next door. I accept them as a simple fact. I see them, they exist.
I have no difficulty in accepting that other people believe in God. (And a God with as many names as adherents).
I choose not to. I have based that choice on the circumstances of my life.
A simple "But you Must" argument, will not change my point of view, neither will threats of some eternal damnation.
I have my reasons, but I doubt most people who would attempt to proselytize me would take the time to hear me out, let alone understand, or accept.
I believe differently from you.
In my eyes, that does not make you a bad person. Your faith, like mine, brings each of us strength, and comfort, in it's own ways. And that's what matters.

I don't believe in god, ghosts or spirits. I don't believe in anything supernatural. I've never seen any evidence that any of those things exist, and see no reason to believe in something that doesn't have a shred of proof to back it up.

The YODA GOLLUM and SPIDER-MAN guy sums it up. Why would we believe in ghosts without irrefutable evidence or even evidence that points towards the likelihood of the existence of ghosts, any more than God?

I've seen as much to indicate the existance of God as I have SLIMER, YODA, GOLLUM, or my friendly neighborhood SPIDER-MAN!

But something tells me you'll never get it (I'm psychic)...

It is our natural nature to rebel. We rebel as it was the fist sin that sent the Angel Lucifer out of the presense of GOD. And it still continues today, man with his carnal limted capacity, attempt to logical give explanation of where man comes from, but cannot explain how to create a radiant sun, or even a single blade of grass. Man is in a fallen state, until as it is written we become renewed in the image of Christ, thru faith and submission that we are not designed to know it all, but to be in company of the One who loves enough to share his eternity with us.
They are like children, just being rebellious.

I think a rigorous atheism pretty much implies non-belief in ghosts, spirits, etc.
