Alnmouth is a lot more than 500 yards from Alnwick - more like a couple of miles, so forget answer 4! Another answer says there aren't many trains that stop at Alnmouth. It all depends what you mean by 'not many'. I had a quick look at Table 26 in the National Rail Timetable (http://www.networkrail.co.uk/browse%20documents/timetables/timetables/Table26.pdf) and there are trains arriving at least every two hours, and often more frequently, from just before 7am until about 10.30pm (Mondays to Fridays, northbound only - there will be roughly the same number southbound). For more details you will have to search one of the on line booking sites giving the date and time you want to travel - and where you are starting from!

The closest station to Alnwick is Alnmouth (500 yards). Found towards near the bottom of my source.

alnmouth (warning its rather limited service only a few trains a day most dont stop till berwick ie gner and virgin trains)
