I am having my Pastor come to my house for a prayer, and I want to give him some money for his trouble. I'm not quite sure how to do this. Should I just whip out a $100 bill, or should I put it in a car or envelope or something?

And by 'car' I meant 'card'. I don't see why Yahoo Answers won't let you edit the question itself.

Place your gift in an envelope. As he is leaving the house take the envelope and place it in his hand. Look him in the eye and say, "Thank you".

look for an offering envelope in your church. there should be a line that states that you can donate x amount of dollars to your pastor. if not then write on the envelop that you are donating x amount of dollars to the pastor and/or his family. that way when you put the envelope (this should be a church envelope) you can mark it and they will make sure that he gets it. i think you are very kind hearted to think of such a question.

well that's easy you put it in an envelope after you're both done praying hand him the envelope and say, "Thank you pastor for helping, now it's my time to help you here's a money to help you in your trouble. I would really like to be a blessing to you"

I thought your original question was the best. The pastor would probably really appreciate it if you put it in a car. I know the Catholic priests like it.

Place it in a sealed envelope and either hand it to him with a sincere thank you or if you aren't comfortable with that, send it to him at the church with a nice note of appreciation. If you are ever in doubt as to what is "usual and customary" just check with the church secretary.

Pastors don't expect payment for serving their people. If you feel that you wish to support his ministry then perhaps the thing to do is simply put a little extra in the plate on Sunday. He may feel insulted if you offer to pay him directly
