generally if you ask the question - you have a problem.

you should try to slow down your drinking - and talk to someone about it. Help lines, counselors, a doctor.

If you have actual social anxiety you could be helped by a doctor - and they might decide that you are a good candidate for a medication to help with your anxiety. but you are using alcohol just like a medication now, except without a doctors advice, and with negative side effects. and drinking enough such that you dont remember is really unsafe - it probably scares the crap out of you!

get help before it becomes a bigger thing. good luck!

You are self-medicating with alcohol. You are only steps away from being an alcoholic, you will begin drinking every day, and hiding it (or at least thinking that you are hiding it.) Not all alcoholics have to drink every day, or even every two days, it depends on the person.

Alcohol is a depressant, not a mood elevator, the euphoria wears off and actually brings your mood down further each time you drink.

If you are having memory lapses and cannot remember what you have said, it will soon become you cannot remember what you have done, and then there will be no turning back without something drastic like rehab.

It does not really work on your anxiety, it is only hiding your anxiety so that you are not dealing with it in an adult manner. You need to get some help immediately, Call your local Alcoholics Anonymous and ask for some referrals to counselors. Good luck and have a good night.

Sounds like it. But the first step is knowing that you see you have a problem. It may not be that you are an alcholic, it may just be that you are shy and are using it as a crutch. You see that, so think about what you are doing in the future, or at least the next few times you go out and see if you can do without. You might want to see a shrink and see if he can help before you start the road to AA. See if you can talk to someone about this and work it out. If you can't then it's time to give up all the booze and get help before it really ruins your life. If you are at the point of blacking out and forgetting I'd say, it's getting bad. But as I said, the good thing is, you are facing it. If nothing else you are here, asking people you don't know if you have a problem. Now the thing is to go and face the people you do know and love and who love you and have them there for you and for them to help you through this tough time.
I wish you all the luck in the world.

Only you can truly decide if you have a problem. My mother is in AA and swears by it. Maybe you should sit in on a meeting, and see if you find yourself relating. That's how she figured it out. Where as some other people I know have done the same and decided they didn't have nowhere near the problem they thought. Either way counseling of some sort would be helpful.

If you are medicating yourself with alcohol, you have a problem. Have a serious discussion with your doctor about this. It may not be safe to stop cold turkey without medical supervision.

Also call your local A.A. chapter and start going to meetings. You can be anonymous and people there understand exactly what you are going through. Your family may also benefit from AlAnon to understand how best to help you.

ingesting rubbing alcohol is rather risky and might reason large issues even dying. a minimum of severe abdomen misery. Kitty Dukakis whose husband ran for Pres againist the 1st George Bush had to be hospitalized for ingesting rubbing alcohol. Her ingesting went out of control after her husband lost the race. A stone alcoholic. I even have considered puzzling middle alcoholics drink cough syrup or Nyquil even mouthwash for the alcohol in it, yet they gained't final long in the event that they attempt rubbing alcohol.

After you see your doctor, you might want to hook up with AA. You can find them at: www.alcoholics-anonymous.org
They are really helpful, and maybe they can help you stop before things get worse. It is always easier if you don't have to go through it alone. Good Luck!
