BECAUSE THEY ARE BUYING MEDICAL SEATS FOR RS 60 LAKHS. NATURALLY THEY WANT TO EARN WHAT THEY SPENT WITH INTEREST EITHER BY TAKING DOWRY OR BY EXPLOITING PATIENTS.PREVIOUSLY THERE WERE SOME DOCTORS, INFLUENCED BY COMMUNIST IDEOLOGY AND USED TO GIVE MEDICINES FREE AND THEIR NURSING HOMES WERE CALLED people's hospitals. THE DOCTORS IN ORDER TO MAKE FAST BUCK, PRESCRIBE SEVERAL DIAGNOSTIC-AL TESTS WHICH ARE TO BE COMPULSORILY DONE IN THE LABORATORIES OF THEIR CORPORATE HOSPITALS. IN CASE OF GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS, THE POSITION IS DEPLORABLE.THEY DON'T HAVE CT SCANNING, MRI MACHINES, EVEN, IF THEY POSSES, THEY WON'T WORK. ALL THE RELIGIOUS INSTITUTES INSTEAD OF QUARRELING ON PETTY ISSUES LIKE WHOSE GOD IS GREAT SHOULD START OPENING DISPENSARIES FOR THE DOWN TRODDEN AND MARGINALIZED SECTIONS.

This question is based on a very ridiculous premise, that being that a doctor should not earn his livelihood. What is your profession? If you are a shopkeeper, do you give free goods to the poor? You will give your goods only to those who pay for them. The same applies to a laborer - will he do manual work for you for free? Will anyone do anything for a poor person for free? Then why only the doctors? Do you know the amount of hard work it takes for a doctor to be one? How many sleepless nights, how much time away from his family? And does he too not have any responsibility towards his children, to make sure that they go to good schools, etc?
Please get off the backs of doctors regarding this rich patient-poor patient issue. If you feel so bad for the poor, you please first render your services to them for free and then preach others.

Not all doctors my friend. Some dishonest doctors are selling their services to rich. But in this World there are so many doctors who have a soft corner on poor people and doing service to them freely. Due to some waste doctors who charge more fee from poor people, all doctors mustn't be blamed. There is no wrong to charge more fee from rich persons. Because it would make them money for their and their family's survival.

Not exactly. But nowadays there is lot facility for diagnosis like x ray, scan pathological tests etc and doctors depend on them. Say for example for a simple fracture, they are unable to tell that there is fracture unless x rayed. The cost of diagnosis and medicines have shot up tremendously. Again, it is to be noted that the cost of education including medical has gone up tramendously and cost of living also have shot up. All these factors make the thing that doctors sell their services only to rich.

Not even Doctor it is all society and resposible people of the society like Teachers, Doctors, Advocates, Police, Politicians, Media and Beaurocrats all are after money. Actually they all also from the same soceity and we can not expect anything special from them.
But Dont loose heart there good people from the above sections also and we have to appreciate the good and leave or oppose the ill.

no, in fact it is just the opposite. With all of the medicare cuts and people who do not have insurance, it is becoming much less profitable to be a doctor. Many doctors and hospitals have to "eat" a huge percentage of the work they do anymore :(

it costs so much in mal practice insurance they have to cater to the people with money or insuance.
