While the plane may be old, most likely the interior has been renovated. However, with that said, you may want to look into the us airways website about inflight entertainment systems (unless it is a night flight) because being a low cost American airline, it isn't guarenteed. There is a risk that you may encounter a plane with televisions, which you must share with the two rows in front of you. I remember that once, I was on a 10+ hour flight with shared televisions, which showed some stupid American drama movie. Four hours isn't that much! Safety inboard older jets meanwhile shouldn't be a problem. In fact their proven technology makes them even safer than new jets like the a380 which if you remember, qantas grounded after one of their engines exploded in flight.

Do you realize how large a manual you are talking about ? Maybe in CD or DVD form it isn't that big ,but it takes up about 2-3 shelves approx 6 ft.wide, without the illustrated parts, in paper form.
