i called the ambulance just a while ago because my heart just started beating incredibly fast and i couldnt catch my breath. when they got here it had slowed some and it was down to 130. i have an anxiety disorder but i didnt feel anxious at all when this happened. before they left it was between 115 and 120. it still feels like its beating fast and they said if it feels the same later i can call them back and go to the hospital. do you think i should? i dont really know what to do. i dont want to go if its not neccasary. but i'm scared, i dont know why its doing this.

I'm a Cardiovascular and those numbers are still a bit high. I would recommend that if it continues within those numbers, you might not want to risk it and go to the hospital. If you don't want to do that, I would recommend that you see a Cardiologist ASAP.

You might want to take an Aspirin this helps reduce blood viscosity (thickness) for smoother blood flow.

What happened just prior? Sometimes the body itself might react without the feeling of anxiety. It could react to something you've eaten or taken. The pulse can also race as a symptom of Heat Stroke. I don't know what the problem is that you are experiencing, but I can recommmend a few articles you might like to research:

I worked in Cardiology for over 20 years- call them back and go to the hospital--- anxiety or not, you cannot go to sleep with an irregular heart rate/pulse. Go to the hospital-- they will probably admit you or monitor you for at least 12 hours on a heart monitor- draw bloods to see what is going on, do an ekg, and probably blood gasses to make sure you are not having a heart attack--- call them and go--- you can have an arrhythmia which is an irregular rhythm that can come on suddenly while you are sleeping and by the time you wake up you can be dead---call them back................good luck to you

Go to the hospital NOW! You could have high blood pressure. Your heart rate should be around 80- 100 beats. Not 120.

Peace

The same thing happened to me before. After going to the hospital they told me it was an anxiety/panic attack. This still to this day happens to me. My doctor tells me to breathe in and out very slowly. For some reason she also tells me to drink milk to coat your stomach because if you havent ate in awhile that will make it worse. Im surprised they didnt give you xanax. If it doesnt go away and you do go back, ask the dr for one. Otherwise, just know your going to be fine and try to keep your mind off it. Hope this helps.

It is more than likely the anxiety.. try relaxing in a warm bubble bath, have a glass of milk, and try to get some sleep. Make sure you turn of the television and lie in silence with your eyes closed and let your mind go blank.

Have you taken any cold medicines recently? Are you taking any diet pills or supplement? If you are then that is why your heart rate is up. If you haven't then I would suggest you going to see your Dr. in the morning. If it is getting worse then go to ER now.

I feel it is best to silence to your inner self. If you feel that you do need medical assistance it is better to visit a hospital many times to be sure. than to wish you had and have further problems
